Breastmilk & Memorial Jewelry FAQ — Mama Milk Fairy
Curious about how breastmilk jewelry is made or how to order a keepsake with your baby’s umbilical cord or loved one’s ashes? You’re in the right place! Below you’ll find answers to the most common questions about my handmade DNA and memorial jewelry, shipped worldwide.
Q: What is breastmilk jewelry made of?
A: Breastmilk jewelry is handcrafted using your own preserved breastmilk. I use a special process to turn your milk into a stable, wearable keepsake. You can also add other meaningful inclusions like baby hair, dried flowers, umbilical cord, or ashes.
Q: Can I include cremation ashes, umbilical cord, or other materials?
A: Yes. I work with many types of inclusions including ashes, umbilical cord, placenta, formula, fabric, pet fur, hair, and dried flowers. These pieces become beautiful tributes to the people and stories that matter most.
Q: How do I send you my breastmilk or other inclusions?
A: Once you place an order, you'll receive an email with detailed shipping instructions. You'll send your inclusions to my home studio in Canada. Don’t worry—very little milk is needed, and I include tips for safe packaging.
Q: How long does it take to make my keepsake?
A: Turnaround time is 3–12 weeks depending on the season and the product you select. Once I receive your inclusions, you’ll get a confirmation email. You’ll also be notified when your finished keepsake ships.
Q: Can I order if I didn’t breastfeed?
A: Absolutely. I create many keepsakes for families who used formula, or want to preserve other meaningful items like fabric, hair, or ashes. Your piece will still carry deep meaning.
Q: Do you ship internationally?
A: Yes! I offer worldwide shipping from my studio in Vancouver, BC. Tracked shipping is included for Canadian & USA orders, and international options are available at checkout.
Q: Can I include more than one item in a piece?
A: Yes. You can include multiple items — for example, breastmilk and hair, or ashes and flowers. Just specify your preferences in the order notes. There’s no extra charge for additional inclusions.
Q: What are “inclusions”?
A: Inclusions are the personal materials you send to be preserved in your jewelry. This includes things like breastmilk, ashes, umbilical cord, placenta, fabric, hair, or flowers. Each inclusion tells a part of your story.
Q: Is breastmilk jewelry safe and durable?
A: Yes. I use a 100% natural, non-toxic preservation method and high-quality, jewelry-grade resin. Your keepsake is designed to last for years with proper care, and I include care instructions with every order.
Q: What inclusions do you work with?
A: There are lots of inclusions I can work with, these are the most common ones, but feel free to reach out if you would like to include something else and we can discuss if it is possible:
Breastmilk, formula, or milk alternative
Hair
Dried umbilical cord
Preserved placenta capsule
